PC Setup

PCSetup sets up your work PC. It installs the apps the team uses, downloads our code from Azure DevOps, and adds the team's AI skills to Claude Code and Codex. It can also build EDM and DSP firmware for you.

  1. Install Dropbox and sign in with your Team CI work account.
  2. In Dropbox, open CI Team Prod Management\AI Skills and double-click Get PCSetup.cmd. If it asks you to sign in, use your work account.
  3. When it finishes, run the command it shows you:
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File "$env:USERPROFILE\source\repos\PCSetup\update.ps1"

This installs the apps, downloads the code and adds the AI skills. At the end it lists anything you still need to do yourself. If you run PowerShell as administrator, you get fewer “allow this app?” prompts.

You can also open the PCSetup folder in Claude Code and say “run update.ps1”.

Get PCSetup.cmd is the only script in Dropbox. It puts PCSetup in %USERPROFILE%\source\repos\PCSetup, and you can run it again any time to update PCSetup.

Sign in to Dropbox and the AI apps. So the AI can read Azure DevOps for you, open a new PowerShell window and run:

az login --allow-no-subscriptions

Run update.ps1 now and then, with the same command as above. It installs anything new the team has added.

It does not update apps you already have. To update those, close them, open PowerShell as administrator, and run:

powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File "$env:USERPROFILE\source\repos\PCSetup\scripts\upgrade-apps.ps1"

Official EDM installers, for releases and “main branch” builds, are on OneDrive in EDM from Radiant.

In Claude Code or Codex, type the skill's slash command, or just ask in your own words:

Slash command Or say
/build-edm “Build EDM” or “Build EDM and open FEIP”
/build-flash-dsp “Build the DSP firmware” or “Build and flash the DSP to Spider 1234567”, using your Spider's serial number

The AI asks what it needs first, such as which Spider. Then it does the rest by itself and tells you how it went. If something goes wrong, it tells you what to fix. Flashing works for Spider-80X models.

Your PC first needs Code Composer Studio 5.5 and the DSP tools. Run CCS Setup once. It gets its installers (about 1.6 GB) from the CCS Setup installers folder in the Dropbox AI Skills folder.

update.ps1 adds the team's AI skills to Claude Code and Codex. Restart them afterwards so they pick up the changes. ChatGPT can't get the skills automatically: upload the ZIP files from PCSetup\dist\chatgpt yourself, and the script tells you how.

See all the skills in PCSetup's skills folder. When you work in a repo, have your AI read that repo's instructions.

  • A command you just installed isn't found: open a new PowerShell window.
  • winget isn't found: install App Installer from the Microsoft Store.
  • A script shows a warning: do what the warning says.
  • A DSP build or flash stops: the AI tells you why. Most often, EDM is open on your PC and you need to close it.

The setup scripts have the full details.
